Dwarf fuzzy lionfish (Dendrochirus brachypterus)

Purchased yesterday and in the small quarantine tank. Has taken a few bits of frozen mysis already which is great news. It’s a very small specimen and currently has a really nice red shade to its pectoral fins which I hope it will keep as it matures.

These fish are voracious predators, with a venomous defensive mechanism. This fuzzy mainly feeds on small invertebrates but it’s larger cousins are currently causing havoc in the Caribbean destroying fish populations. An invasive alien with no real predators apart from Man they are being promoted as a food source in an attempt to control their destructive habits.
